Can I debug PHP files under Eclipse PDT without using Apache?

I have just installed Eclipse PDT 3.0.2 (I don't know what Eclipse base this is, Galileo or Helios), and have been enjoying the step up from NetBeans. In getting more serious about my PHP development (I have recently expanded from only ASP.NET), I decided to move from editing my PHP files directly under my Xampp Apache doc root (htdocs), and have created a workspace under my usual source location, c:\development.

Eclipse as an IDE - What do you find missing as a beginner in Java?

I am working on a solution that aims at solving problems that newbie programmers experience when they are "modifying code" while bug fixing / doing change requests, on code in production. Eclipse, as we all know is a great IDE. Features such as Code Completion, Open Declaration, Type Hierarchy, Package Explorer, Navigator, Finding References etc aids people in fixing things quicker compared to say using something like Textpad.

How can I stop the LogCat output from scrolling automatically in Eclipse?

UPDATE: This turned out to be a bug in R14 of the SDK tools. It has been fixed in R15 which was released on Oct. 27. Updating to the latest release solves the problem as suggested in the accepted answer. I use the LogCat window in the Debug view in Eclipse to diagnose and fix crashes in my code. I've noticed that the LogCat output will automatically scroll down anytime new lines are added (but only after you scroll to the bottom yourself). This is great if I'm waiting for an exception stacktrace to come up, but extremely annoying if I'm trying to read something in the log and more lines are continuing to be added at the bottom (it keeps jumping to the bottom, so I scroll back to the error, then it jumps to the bottom again). Is there any way to make it stay where I've placed it, when I place it, but continue to scroll automatically when I reach the bottom? EDIT: Please note, I'm aware of filters and I don't consider this a solution to the problem. A

Android Packaging: Error generating final archive resources.ap_

I'm currently trying to build a PhoneGap project I've been working on in Eclipse. However, when I try to build and run the project on the Android Emulator, I get the following error... Error generating final archive: Failed to add /Users/me/Projects/MyApp/bin/resources.ap_ Unknown Android Packaging Problem I've cleaned the project several times, removed the resources.ap_ file, as well as the contents of the gen directory. Anything else I can try? Much appreciated. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <manifest xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" package="my.app.android" android:versionCode="1" android:versionName="1.0" > <uses-sdk android:minSdkVersion="8" /> <supports-screens android:largeScreens="true" android:normalScreens="true" android:smallScreens="true" android:res

How do I add logging.properties to the classpath of an Eclipse project?

I'm using Eclipse 3.7.1 and my code isn't seeing my logging.properties file. (I thought it would see it automatically because it is in the standard place within the JRE but that is apparently wrong). I've been told I need to add this file to the root of the classpath but I'm not sure how to do that. Eclipse gives me ways to add jars, libraries, variables and other things to the classpath but I don't know how to add a properties file. Can anyone clue me in? You'd think it would be easier to add a simple text file than to add a jar but I don't see any options for text files or property files so I'm not sure how to proceed.

OpenCV with Android

I'm just after setting up OpenCV for android in Eclipse following this tutorial , I have the samples which do not use native c running fine on my phone. The problem is when I try to run the native code samples, I followed all the steps on the next page for setting up the builder in eclipse but when I try to run the samples on my phone they crash. I have used NDK before and successfully set up tesseract for android using the command line to compile the native code instead of eclipse. I think the problem is due to unsatisfiedLinkError:Couldn't load native_sample:findLibrary returned null but I am unsure. I have a screenshot here if that helps. Any suggestions would be more than welcome !!

Eclipse: Android Soundboard buttons are "overclickable”

In my android soundboard, all of the buttons work perfectly and the sounds play normally, but there is a problem. The problem is that when you press a button in the app, you can press other buttons. For instance, if the button I press plays a siren like noise, I can press another button and both sounds will play at the same time. This is not what I want. Is there any code I can add to make it so that I can click only one button at a time, or some code that makes the previous sound stop and it will play the newly selected sound?

Use content assist with Explicit type argument in Java compliance level 1.7

I'm using Eclipse 3.7 under Java 7, so I want to keep my compiler compliance level in 1.7. By the way, I'm working together with people who use Eclipse 3.6 (which one does not support compliance level 1.7). So although my JRE is JavaSE-1.7, it compiles codes with 1.6 compliance level. The problem is, because the compiler under 1.7 does not support implicit type arguments (diamond), it marks error. For example: List<String> list1 = new ArrayList<>(); // It's recommended in Java 7, but marked as error in Eclipse 3.6 So I hope to set content assist to insert explicit type arguments (old style) rather than implicit type arguments (current style). Is there a way to change how the content assist works?

Showing Currency from correct direction in editText

Hell guys, i am using following code to input currency in editText 3 amount.addTextChangedListener(new CurrencyTextWatcher()); public class CurrencyTextWatcher implements TextWatcher { boolean mEditing; public CurrencyTextWatcher() { mEditing = false; } public synchronized void afterTextChanged(Editable s) { if(!mEditing) { mEditing = true; String digits = s.toString().replaceAll("\\D", ""); NumberFormat nf = NumberFormat.getCurrencyInstance(); try{ String formatted = nf.format(Double.parseDouble(digits)/100); s.replace(0, s.length(), formatted); } catch (NumberFormatException nfe) { s.clear(); } mEditing = false; } } The proble

How can I hide long class paths in stack traces to make them readable?

Often stack traces can get so verbose from long class paths that they are very painful to read. Here's an example: 1) No implementation for java.util.Set< com.mydomain.myapp.android.activities.catbrowser.generalizedbrowser.listview. helpers.databaseitem.itemmanipulators.ItemManipulator< com.mydomain.myapp.flash.Cat>> annotated with @com.google.inject.assistedinject.Assisted(value=) was bound. while locating java.util.Set< com.mydomain.myapp.android.activities.catbrowser.generalizedbrowser.listview. helpers.databaseitem.itemmanipulators.ItemManipulator< com.mydomain.myapp.flash.Cat>> annotated with @com.google.inject.assistedinject.Assisted(value=) ... If I could trim the class path, only showing class names and methods, it would look like this: 1) No implementation for Set<ItemManipulator<Cat>> annotated with @Assisted(value=) was bound. while locating Set<ItemManipulator<Cat>> annotated with @Assisted(v
